I LOVE CLASSES… whether they are the casual and the ‘no real instruction’ type ones at PaintNite held in pubs around Vancouver, or the real hands on with complete how-to’s as well as full creative license to do your own thing with dynamic mixed media or acrylic instructors, like the ones offered at ClipperSt in Langley. I LOVE them all.

I treasure the times I am able to attend each and every one of them – each class feels like a little retreat – a few quilt-free hours to spoil myself… we know, it is so difficult for me to justify those times spoiling myself…. lol…   I heard that …!?!?!

But honestly, everyone needs to find something that moves them, you need something that sparks you, and feeds your soul enough, Make it a real part of your life. JUST DO IT!!

Let me share about  a class from last fall…

I had a huge amount of fun at Clipper Street with Limor Webber (that’s her above; smushing her gelatos into Whipped Spackle) – she is a designer with Prima, FaberCastell and others and she is CANADIAN!! Such a treat! Funny, adorable, so ridiculously talented and sheer entertainment… all this bundled in alittle 5 foot package

We started off ripping resist canvas and adhering down a variety of gorgeous Prima papers, as well as ‘touching’ everything with paint and tinting some molding paste with colour to add texture to the initial block… see the 2 nd photo.  Most colour was added simply with our fingers.

Then we moved on to the HUGE assortment of embellishments  – – ahhhh, heavenly treasures from Prima.

While I do understand there is a fine line between artfully designing a well balanced layout and creating one that looks like Michael’s Stores throw up on the page;  I, for one, hover right between the two design types… leaning closer to one side than the other sometimes…. but man, I had fun!! So it was time well in my head.
